    Second Life help?
well I started playing SL not long ago.. And since I can’t find any job the normal way (all seems to be Hippie pay and filling surveys online, dunno not that intrested) I was looking to make some money by camping. I saw a lot of chairs like 2 linden /10 minutes and people sitting and already made like 40 linden or something. So I try that. If I’m "playing" SL and stay like 20 minutes or such. I get my money no problem.. But when I leave home I’d want to leave my character camping and earning some money (apparently a lot of people do it, I see "earning so far: 100 linden" and stuff like that!!) But I can’t!! If I’m innactive for half an hour, the system disconnects me from the game!! (and I get no money) How do people camp and get high rates? Is there any cheat to avoid the disconnection or something?? TY
Also, where are the best camp rates?? Or is hippie pay worth it? kinda annoying filling all those offers.. Do they really pay or is it a scam to get your personal details?

I have never bothered to camp but was under the impression you were not logged off while in a camping chair. When you stand still for a long time an "away" tag appears over your head, this should not happen in a camping chair. If it is camp somewhere else.

I would stay away from online surveys for L$.

If I were you to look for a job I would go to the classifieds in your search menu. Look up Hostess and start applying. If your new and not really good with building, creating animations, or writing script that will be the easiest job for you to find. Building is where the money is at though so start learning.

I would avoid scams like Hippie Pay and MetaRL and other "online survey" crap people try to get you to do (with referrals to themselves so that they get credit for sending you to the site).

Camping is one way to earn Lindens in Second Life, yes, but it’s a very slow way to do it and I don’t readily recommend it… although it’s a common way most new folk start out earning a little pocket change. There are ways to avoid getting logged out by SL, yes. What you need is an object with an anti-idle script to prevent you from going idle (setting your status to "Busy" is supposed to do that, too, although I don’t exclusively trust it). There are plenty of free anti-idle objects out there… I can give you one myself if you’re interested. In order for them to work you have to have them physically-attached, just like you do with flight-assist objects or shields or any other scripted item. If you haven’t already found one, send me an email message with your SL name and I’ll be happy to give you one.

That said, I’d recommend looking into more effective ways to earn money in Second Life once you feel more comfortable. I never camp any more… once in a blue moon I drop $10 or $20 of my own money into my account and it usually lasts me a while (being thrifty helps). It saves me the trouble of having to park my butt on a camping spot for hours, not to mention the cost of electricity and wear on the computer from leaving it running SL for hours and hours on end.

    Hi Camden -

I’ll let you in on a little secret. Yes, there is a cheat for this, kind of. My partner has something called "Stay Awake" which prevents her from being logged off, as long as her game window is open. If you ask around, you can find one.

That isn’t going to help you with camping in most places. Any decent camping place will have a limit on earnings and time spent in the chair.

Also, like they say, stay away from the surveys and whatnot. Most of them are not even worth the bother.

I do have a suggestion for you, if you insist on continuing to camp, why not review some camping places for our website? That way you can earn even more Lindens, since we pay out 500L per published review!

    See you in world.

Quite insightful submit. By no means believed that it was this simple after all. I had spent a beneficial deal of my time looking for somebody to clarify this topic clearly and you are the only 1 that ever did that. Kudos to you! Keep it up
